TITLE:  Official Description Change:  Unsigned Iowa 959, Polk County

 

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Unsigned Iowa 959 begins at US 65 and 69 near the Polk‑Warren county line approximately one mile east of the City of Des Moines and proceeds northwesterly to the east corporation line of the City of Des Moines.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑959‑0 (1)‑‑2M‑77, between Polk County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred unsigned Iowa 959 from US 65 and 69 in the SE ¼ Section 35‑T78N‑R24W northwesterly to the east corporation line of the City of Des Moines to county jurisdiction on January 1, 1981.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the present description of unsigned Iowa 959 in Polk County form the primary road system.

 

Remove unsigned Iowa 959 in Polk County as follows:

 

Beginning at a point (junction US 65 & 69) in the SE ¼ Section 35‑T78N‑R24W; thence northeasterly and northwesterly through Section 35‑T78N‑R24W to the east corporation line of the City of Des Moines connecting with an unnamed street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, unsigned Iowa 959 Polk County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

Unsigned Iowa 959 begins at US 65 and 69 approximately 5 miles west of Carlisle near the Polk‑Warren County line and travels generally north­westerly approximately one mile to the east corporation line of Des Moines, Iowa.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Locate Unsigned Iowa 959 in Polk County as follows:

 

Beginning at a point (junction US 65 & 69) in the SE ¼ Section 35‑T78N‑R24W; thence northeasterly and northwesterly through Section 35‑T78N‑R24W to the east corporation line of the City of Des Moines connecting with an unnamed street.

 

NOW, THEREFORE:  Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of unsigned Iowa 959 in Polk County, Iowa.

 

NOTE:  To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Unsigned Iowa 959 in Polk County, Iowa should be officially included in the State Primary System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Beginning at a point approximately 240 feet NW of the Warren-Polk County line (SE ¼ Corner of Section 35‑T78N‑R24W); thence northwesterly and westerly to a point approximately 300 feet south of NW Corner Section 35‑T78N-R24W connecting with east corporation line of Des Moines, Iowa.

 

NOW, THEREFORE:  Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Unsigned Iowa 959 in Polk County, Iowa.

 

NOTE:  To become effective upon adoption of this resolution.
